DODGER (Australian Supreme Champion Fieldspan Jammie Dodger)
Dodger is a beautifully structure dog who was a regular winner in the showring prior to his show retirement in 2018. He lives in retirement with us and his canine family.
There is no living Field Spaniel in Australia who has done as much winning or is as highly awarded as Dodger. Dodger is and remains the only Field Spaniel in the history of the breed in Australia to have been awarded the title of Supreme Champion. The Supreme Champion title is the highest show title that is available to a show dog in Australia.
Dodger is a multi-Best In Show / Best In Specialty show winner and has been awarded best gundog in show (BIG1) on countless occasions.
He is Blessed with beautiful boning, a perfect lay of shoulder, a level topline, a flowing coat and an effortless gait as he moves around the showring. Many judges (both Australian and International) have commented on how sound his is and what a strong ring presence he has. He has been awarded highly by judges from all around the world.
In awarding him best in show, one judge wrote of him: “What a super dog! Beautifully constructed, sound, and an easy mover. Excellent breed type, presented immaculately and showed his head off. Delighted to award him Best In Show“
But, most importantly, Dodger has a gentle and affectionate nature, and is a friend to all – whether you are human or animal. Dodger has never met a stranger. He has been raised with children – and adores them.
He is our foundation dog and a proven sire, having produced Australian Champions, American Champions and International Champions. He is everything we have ever wanted in a dog and his bloodline flows through our breeding stock. Dodger remains a very loved and valued member of our family.
BREE (Australian Champion Silverbirch Jamboree Hytea)
Bree is our foundation and our alpha female & pack leader. She is now retired from the showing and enjoys her retirement with the rest of our pack.
Bree has a gentle & affectionate nature and loves everyone – particularly children. This placid & affectionate nature is seen in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During her time in the showring, Bree won multiple class in show awards and countless Best Of Breeds and won Best Field Spaniel bitch in Australia several times in the annual DogzOnline point score competition.
She is the mother and grand mother of several Australian Champions and Best In Specialty Show winning Field Spaniels and is enjoying her retirement.
BENNY (Australian , American & International Champion Meadowbriar Benwick Blue Sky)
Benny is a product of our first Dodger & Bree litter. From day one, we realised straight away that this boy was special.
All Fieldies are affectionate – but some are exceptionally so. Benny is such a dog. He wanted to be with you at every moment – and loved nothing more than cuddling up with you on the lounge.
Like most Fields, he also had a great love for food. He had a habit of rattling his food bowl whenever he felt a bit peckish – hence the nickname “Benny Bowl Rattler”.
Benny was sired by Dodger (Aust Supreme Champion Fieldspan Jammie Dodger) out of Bree (Aust Ch Silverbirch Jamboree Hytea),
Sadly, Benny’s time with us was very short as we were only keeping him until he was old enough to make the big trip to his forever family – Anita Eley of Blue Sky Kennels in Colorado, USA.
There he went on to achieve his American Champion title and his International Champion title. He has also sired many American Champions.
However, before leaving Australia at twelve months old, Benny achieved his Australian Champion title and sired a lovely litter for Fieldspan Kennels in Sydney. From that litter, three Australian Champions were produced as well as a Best In Specialty Show winner.
We miss our little “Bowl Rattler” Benny very much – but are comforted by the fact that he is dearly loved and beautifully cared for by Anita.
GEORGIE (Australian Champion Meadowbriar Miss Georgiana)
Georgie is a hyperactive sweetheart who loves cuddles, mayhem & dinner time.
Sired by Dodger (Aust Supreme Champion Fieldspan Jammie Dodger) out of Bree (Aust Ch Silverbirch Jamboree Hytea), Georgie always had the genes behind her to produce a quality Girl.
Georgie has a beautiful typical Field Spaniel head and a beautiful temperament.
Georgie never particularly enjoyed the showring and is retired now. However, during her show career, Georgie was a multiple Best of Breeds, classes in groups and classes in show winner. She won best Field Spaniel bitch in the DogzOnline point score annual competition for several years after dethroning her mother Bree (Aust Ch Silverbirch Jamboree Hytea).
She has a very affectionate, confident, and outgoing nature – and has never met a stranger. She is everyone’s friend and absolutely adored being a mother and took beautiful & loving care of her babies.
MONTY (Australian Champion Meadowbriar Prepare To Die)
Monty most probably has the most affectionate and endearing nature of all of our Field Spaniels. He is so very affectionate and despite no longer being a puppy, Monty provides a very willing playmate for anyone willing to play. He is always the first dog to greet us and lives for affection and praise. He is just the sweetest of dogs.
He is owned by our teenage son, Liam – and they certainly have a special bond between them which is beautiful to observe. He is a daughter of Miranda (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Lady De Bourgh).
Monty has a beautiful correct head with a lovely front and rear and is the product of close line breeding with the valued assistance of the Silverbirch lines.
At the tender age of just11 months old, Monty won his first Best In Show (specialty) winning Best In Show at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club of Victoria under Mr Markku Kipina (Finland), and in doing so, he became the youngest Field Spaniel in Australia (possible the world) ever to win a BIS / BISS. Less than a year later, he backed that up with a Runner Up Best In Show at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Of Victoria Open show where he completed the first ever Field Spaniel double when his litter sister won Best In Show. This was the first time that a Field Spaniel has won BIS & RUBIS at a multiple breed show – let alone two Field Spaniels from the same litter.
He is also a Best In Group winner, a multi Royal CC winner, a multi sweepstakes winner and a Class In Group and Class In Show winner.
He is a slow maturing dog (as most Field Spaniels are) – so his peak is still a few years away.
COCO (Australian Champion Meadowbriar Chocolate Coated)
Coco is a sweet natured little girl who started her show career in March 2015 and is already a Best In Specialty Show winner as well as a multi Class In Show winner.
Coco has won many large Best Of Breeds including under international specialist judges.
In 2018, Coco won Best Of Breed at the Melbourne Royal Show from a large line up of Field spaniels under UK Field Spaniel specialist and internationally respected 2017 Crufts Best In Show Judge Mr Jeff Horswell. In fact, at that show, Meadowbriar dogs won Best Of Breed, R/Up Best Of Breed as well as both dog & bitch challenges and both dog & bitch reserve challenges. In fact, every single Meadowbriar dog entered won every class that they were entered in. When you consider how highly qualified this judge is, you may realise how proud a moment this was for our kennels and it reinforced our beliefs that we are heading in the right direction with our breeding program.
She qualified for her Australian Champion title at just 8 months old and finished her first year of showing (2015) as the Australian Field Spaniel Rising Star winner.
At just 21 months old, Coco won Best In Show at the Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Of Victoria Open Show, and completed the first ever Field Spaniel Best In Show & Runner Up Best In Show at a multiple breed show when her litter brother Monty (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Prepare To Die) won Runner Up Best In Show behind her. A very proud moment for the Meadowbriar kennels – and a world first (to our knowledge).
Coco is a Miranda (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Lady De Bourgh) puppy, and is loved and owned by our teenage daughter Becky.
MAC (Australian Champion Macbeth Findlaech TDX CAA)
Mac entered the show scene in 2016 taking multiple class in group wins as he grew and into himself.
Then in 2017 he discovered Lure Coursing achieving his JC (Junior Courser) title in his first weekend and he’s not missed a beat yet!
He has a temperament most would be envious of, bonding deeply with his family – yet level and confident enough to be a star with the public at both the Dog Lovers Show & Royals Shows, impressing adults and enchanting children. Mac has been an exemplary ambassador for our rare breed.
We look forward to much more from Macbeth, the futures shining bright for this boy.
April 2019 Macbeth gained his ‘CA’ (Coursing Ability) title. In July 2019 he gained his ‘TD’ (Tracking Dog) title. In August 2019 he excelled further and gained his ‘TDX’ (Tracking Dog Excellent) title, and in
August 2019 he ran on and gained ‘CAA’ (Coursing Ability Advanced) title.
Like many quality Field Spaniels who hit their prime around middle age, Mac is a later bloomer and we feel that his best in the show ring is still ahead.
Mac is a Bree (Aust Ch Silverbirch Jamboree Hytea) puppy and lives with and is lovingly cared for by his family in Melbourne Justin & Cheryl Webster of Longbourn Field Spaniels.
SPENCER (Australian Champion Fieldspan Mbrce The Darkside)
Black Field Spaniels are rather hard to come across at the best f times. Finding a black Field Spaniel of Spencer’s quality is extremely difficult to find.
Spencer is a beautifully natured and structured dog with a beautiful classic Field Spaniel head, a lovely level top line and a well angulated rear.
He is a multi-class in group and class in show winner under both local and international judges.
He is blessed with a flowing silky black coat and a friendly, affectionate and playful disposition.
Spencer has not spent as much time in the showring that he deserves – and we look forward to seeing Spencer representing our breed in the show ring in the future.
Spencer is loved and cared for by the Swanson family in Sydney – where he resides happily with his mum Miranda (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Lady De Bourgh) and will be making his contribution to our breeding program very soon.
MIRANDA (Australian Champion Meadowbriar Lady Debourgh)
Miranda is a beautiful Field Spaniel bitch who is enjoying her retirement to the full spending hours on the lounge sleeping and dreaming of dinner time and birds to chase.
Like Spencer (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Mbrace Th Darkside) she owns and is loved by the Swanson Family in Sydney.
Thus far, Miranda has proved to be our most successful brook bitch, having produced several Australian Champions. She is mother to Coco (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Chocolate Coated), Monty (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Prepare To Die) and Spencer (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Mbrace Th Darkside).
She achieved highly in her limited time in the showring, easily picking up her Australian Champion title, winning several Best Of Breed, Class In Group and Class In Show awards along the way.
She is a sweet and gentle natured girl who still pampers to her (now adult) son Spencer (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Mbrace Th Darkside).
Sheila (Australian Champion Meadowbriar Aussie Sheila)
Sheila was originally bound for the USA, but a change of circumstances sees Sheila living in her forever home in Melbourne with Justin & Cheryl Webster of Longbourn Field Spaniels.
She lives happily with her uncle Mac (Aust Ch Meadowbriar Macbeth Findlaech).
Sheila obtained her Australian Champion title well before her first birthday – collecting along the way a number of Class In Group and Class In Show awards.
At the 2018 Melbourne Royal Show having just turned one year old, Sheila was awarded Reserve Challenge Bitch (2nd best bitch in the breed) from a large line up of Field spaniels including Australian Champions and an Australian Grand Champion. This was under the judging of UK Field Spaniel specialist and internationally respected 2017 Crufts Best In Show Judge Mr Jeff Horswell.
Sheila is so fond of her food (a deeply engrained Field Spaniel trait) that she is now affectionately known as ‘Piranha’ because of the way she “attacks” her food.
